Cost of education calculator

Did you know, over the course of your child’s 13-year education, you could be spending anything from $50,000 to $460,0001 of your after-tax money? Add on another $50,0002 if you plan to support them through university.

If you chose private education, a large portion of this cost is in school fees. The cost can also vary depending on where you live – the best way to know this is to speak to the schools you are looking to enrol your child in.

The table below provides a guide on what to expect based on our cost of education calculator:

2. According to a Parliamentary Budget Report published in 2016, by 2026 the average annual fee for a full-time university student in a Commonwealth-supported place will be $16,836, or about $50,500 for a three-year degree. Fees for some prestigious courses at top universities will probably be much higher.
