Health and wellbeing

At Centuria, we recognise the importance of health and wellbeing for our staff, and the stakeholders that we operate within. We understand that our properties are more than just assets, they are built environments which play a pivotal role in shaping communities and lifestyles, and influence physical, mental and wellbeing health of its stakeholders. As such, the welfare of Centuria’s stakeholders is of vital importance.

Our employees

The wellbeing of our employees, both physical and mental, are a priority for Centuria and a key part of creating a strong, collaborative culture, supported by positive staff engagement.

To promote and support our people, Centuria has developed an internal mental health and wellbeing series. The introductory workshops emphasised awareness of mental health, potential impacts on individuals and how to assist colleagues. Seventeen workshops across Australia, New Zealand and the Philippines were held and the intention is to host quarterly workshops to ensure continuous engagement.

These workshops are complemented by online resources providing further information about resilience exercises, mental health disorders, stress management, wellbeing tips and how to seek further support. Centuria also offers all employees access to free, confidential counselling services as part of an independent and external Employee Assistance Program (EAP).

Our customers

Centuria believes that fostering a culture of engagement, understanding, and collaboration with our tenants helps improve the performance of our assets, and the way we operate. We understand the value and opportunity for interactions and aim to foster a social and positive environment for collective wellbeing.  Centuria holds various activations in our buildings to allow our tenants to interact outside their work.

Across Centuria’s assets, our property management team run a tenant engagement program aimed at connecting our customers.

Experiences hosted in some of our office portfolio include:

  • Wellness BBQ to celebrate Australia Day
  • Health Fair pop-up to support World Health Day
  • Workshops to lift awareness on mindfulness and meditation for World Mental Health Day
  • Spine and posture assessments for World Spine Day
  • Morning tea and conversations starters for R U OK? Day
RUOK Day

Our R U OK? Day activations supports the not-for-profit public health initiative that promotes connections and conversations to support those who might be facing challenging situations or difficult outlooks.

Centuria also supports organisations that focus on mental health and suicide prevention, such as Healthy Heads in Trucks & Sheds (Australia), and Mates in Construction (New Zealand).

By also ensuring that our buildings are equipped with state-of-the-art amenities and shared spaces, we can foster a collaborative work environment, so that our customers can be their most productive.

Our suppliers and contractors

Centuria manages a broad range of operations, each have a range of inherent operational risks. Our Centuria Work, Health, and Safety (WH&S) handbook addresses the Risk Management process, including the effective identification and assessment of hazards that may be encountered during business operations. The document aligns with and satisfies the legislative requirements for the management of occupational health and safety across the geographies in which our assets operate. Centuria aims to update this document over time, ensuring a culture of continuous improvement and feedback is considered for workplace safety.

By outlining and implementing this handbook, we can ensure that risks are managed for every onsite employee, customer tenant, contractor, supplier, visitor, and members of the public.
