Rod Owen-Jones promoted to manage $1.5 bn1 healthcare property portfolio
Australasian real estate funds manager, Centuria Capital Group (ASX: CNI or “Centuria”), has promoted 28-year-experienced Rod Owen-Jones as its new Healthcare Fund Manager, effective from Monday 10 February 2025.
Mr Owen-Jones will oversee $1.5 billion1 of healthcare real estate across Australia, responsible for managing the unlisted Centuria Healthcare Property Fund (CHPF), Centuria Healthcare Direct Medical Fund No. 2 (CHDMF2), Centuria Aged Care Property Fund No. 1 (CACPF1) and Nexus Property Trust.
For the past five years, Rod has been at the coalface of healthcare asset and property management as Centuria Healthcare’s Portfolio Manager.
Jesse Curtis, Centuria Head of Funds Management, said, “Since 2020, Rod has worked closely with our inhouse Funds Management, Transactions and Development teams, which makes him the ideal candidate to take up the Healthcare Fund Manager position. Rod joined the team shortly after Centuria acquired Heathley Limited.
“Since then, the sector has undergone significant change – including a global pandemic – and Rod has been a stalwart colleague, implementing effective value-add strategies to the benefit of our investors and healthcare operator tenants. He is a valued member of our team and will provide the inherit knowledge needed to manage our unlisted healthcare funds.
“His discipline, solutions-oriented leadership and drive is unparallel. It appears he applies the determination that saw him compete at the Sydney Olympics to the management of our healthcare assets on a daily basis.”
To his new role, Mr Owen-Jones brings more than 28 years of experience across Australian property and social infrastructure markets including investment management, capital transactions and leasing. Prior to Centuria, he held senior positions with industry peers including AMP Capital, Lendlease and Dexus.
Mr Owen-Jones represented Australia at the 2000 Sydney Olympics as part of the Men’s Water Polo team and, prior to his corporate career, he enjoyed 12 years as a professional athlete with the Australia Institute of Sport and National Men’s Team.
Mr Owen-Jones holds a Bachelor of Construction Management and Economics, a Graduate Diploma in Finance and Investment (FINSIA) and is a graduate from the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD).
