Australia's largest homemaker centre begins construction

Construction has commenced on Stage 2 of South Central Jandakot, marking a significant milestone in the delivery of what will become Australia’s largest homemaker centre. Set to open in September 2027, the $178 million expansion will be delivered by Satterley, and managed by Centuria Capital Group (ASX: CNI) alongside the existing LFR centre.

CIP Constructions has been appointed to deliver the second stage of the landmark development, which will provide approximately 36,000 square metres of gross lettable area across a 70,000 square metre site.

Satterley Founder and Chief Executive Nigel Satterley AM said the commencement of Stage 2 represented the next chapter in bringing the long-term vision for South Central to life.

“South Central has always been envisioned as much more than a retail precinct. It’s about creating a destination that reflects the growth of Perth’s southern corridor while providing businesses and consumers with a first-class large format retail experience,” Mr Satterley said.

“Commencing Stage 2 is a significant milestone and brings us another step closer to delivering Australia’s largest homemaker centre. This development will not only enhance the retail offering for the region but also generate employment, attract investment and support the continued growth of the City of Cockburn.”

Designed by Meyer Shircore, Stage 2 of South Central Jandakot will comprise a showroom and large format retail space, together with hospitality offerings and more than 800 car parking bays. The precinct has been carefully designed to create a contemporary retail destination that balances convenience, accessibility and customer experience.

Satterley’s Head of Commercial, Bruce McCully, who is overseeing the project, said South Central was setting a new benchmark for large format retail development in Australia.

“Large format retail is a sector we are very interested in expanding our presence, and South Central is exactly the type of project that demonstrates why,” Mr McCully said.

“With its scale, strategic location and exceptional tenancy mix, South Central will become one of Australia’s premier homemaker destinations. The strong interest we’ve seen from national retailers reinforces the demand for high quality, well-located large format retail precincts.

“The project builds on our existing large format retail centre in Ellenbrook, together with our developments at Alkimos and Busselton, reflecting our continued investment in commercial destinations that support growing communities across Western Australia.”

Construction is now underway, with CIP Constructions leading delivery of the project following completion of enabling and civil infrastructure works. Vend Property have been appointed to manage retail leasing opportunities within Stage 2.

Once complete, South Central will become Australia’s largest homemaker centre, establishing a new benchmark for integrated large format retail while reinforcing Jandakot’s position as one of Perth’s fastest growing commercial and employment hubs.
