Supporting careers in property

Centuria’s Sydney team has supported the Real Estate Investment Student Association (REISA) for several years and, this year, we continue to support the student-operated society through a Silver sponsorship.

REISA aims to facilitate pathways into real estate careers for Sydney-based university students. More specifically, it helps students gain exposure and practical skills through focused events and engagement with practising property professionals.

On 21 May 2026, the Centuria team, led by Chief Investment Officer, Andrew Essey, joined REISA’s flagship annual Real Estate Careers Evening, addressing c.150 penultimate and final-year students from The University of Sydney (USYD), University of New South Wales (UNSW) and the University of Technology Sydney (UTS).

Mr Essey was a presenter at the event and was joined by Centuria’s 2026 Internship Committee including Sandy Su, Sandy Williams, Deborah Ford and Aidan Whyte.

Centuria has a strong relationship with REISA extending to several current and past interns and mentors, including:

  • Samarah Issa – current 2026 intern.
  • Richard Ly – 2025 intern and now full time Centuria Bass Analyst – Origination & Loan Management.
  • Abbie Shearer-Smith – 2024 intern, full time Centuria Capital Group Capital and Transactions Analyst, and current REISA mentor.

Centuria also participates in other REISA events including the:

  • Women in Real Estate Evening.
  • Women in Real Estate Mentor Program – which pairs aspiring female professionals with seasoned mentors for six months.
  • various university campus events

Internships are provided within Centuria’s Sydney and Perth offices. Applications for the 2027 Sydney internships are open between June – July 2026. More information can be found on Centuria’s internship program webpage.

Centuria’s engagement with the university community supports the people and equity objective of our Sustainability Framework, which focuses on promoting the growth of our people and encouraging diversity, equity and inclusion.
